* Mutianyu Great Wall · Summer Palace

@ Mutianyu Great Wall — a well-restored section north of Beijing surrounded by forest. Cable car ride up; toboggan slide down.

@ Summer Palace — China's best-preserved imperial garden, centred on Kunming Lake with painted long corridors and hilltop pavilions.

* Yonghe Lama Temple · Bell & Drum Towers · Shicha Lake

~ Morning

@ Yonghe Lama Temple — Beijing's largest and most ornate Tibetan Buddhist temple, with five halls, towering bronze statues and active worship.

~ Afternoon

@ Bell Tower and Drum Tower — twin Ming-dynasty towers that once kept time for the entire imperial city. Shicha Lake (Shichahai) — a chain of three scenic lakes surrounded by historic courtyard mansions and waterside bars. Optional: rickshaw tour through the adjacent hutong alleyways.
