Dali and Lijiang collapse when you give each city a single rushed day. They work when lake light, craft, and old-town stone each get real hours—and when the drive between them is a soft transfer, not lost time you must fill with shopping stops.

Erhai Lake, Yunnan

Suggested Split (6 to 8 Days Total)

  • Dali 3 nights: Erhai half-day; Xizhou or similar craft/courtyard half-day; old-town edges + rest.
  • Transfer day: private car Dali→Lijiang with lunch en route; short evening walk only.
  • Lijiang 3 nights: early lanes; optional Yulong full day; market/herb walk; one blank morning.

Five nights can work as 2 + 2 with a transfer day if you accept fewer craft hours.

When to Go

Spring (March through May) and autumn (September through November) are the natural working windows. Spring brings Erhai bloom and comfortable hiking weather; autumn gives long clear skies and the best lake light. Summer heat and rain make outdoor pacing harder—morning starts become necessary, afternoon rest essential. Winter in Lijiang is cold but workable at lower elevations; Dali stays mild. Typhoon season (June through August) mainly affects coastal Yunnan logistics and can delay flights into Dali.

Erhai Without Making It Sport

Bike a quiet stretch if fitness allows, or use private pull-offs for photos and lake wind. One mode is enough.

Cangshan Cable (Elective)

Weather and queues decide the day. Treat the cableway as optional cool air and views—not proof of completion. Keep a village or café backup.

Hands in Xizhou

Bai courtyards and indigo or woodcraft sessions you can actually book beat another souvenir lane. Schedule before lunch while light is good for courtyards.

Lijiang Priorities

  • Old-town stone and bridges early; exit when bars dominate.
  • Yulong snow-mountain day only if you accept cable logistics—public systems, timed carefully.
  • Market herbs, willow shade, and courtyard lodging for sleep away from the noisiest streets.

Day trip from Guangzhou

We were picked up in a private van for a day trip outside of Guangzhou. We visited the Jurassic Park the waterfalls rafting Mario kart the drive approximately 1 1/2 hours from our hotel. It was very comfortable ride when we first arrived. It was raining, but we were getting wet with some of the experiences that we went on anyway so we didn't matter Stella. Our guide was wonderful and we had such a fun day with her. Some great photo locations in some experiences that I would never have had in Australia. When we arrived at 12 pm, the crowds were very low but as we were leaving around 3 pm it was extremely busy. Lots of tourist buses had arrived. Overall it was a wonderful day. This trip would be best for families, but also adults looking for a thrill. Please be mindful there are a lot of stairs and walking and we did come across a few older people who had difficulty with the stairs.

She even went as far as checking whether the pools at our booked hotels were actually operational. When she found out that the last hotel in Shenzhen had maintenance on its pool, she proactively offered me not one, but two alternative hotel options—both of which were massive upgrades from what we had originally booked, at absolutely no extra cost. I was genuinely overwhelmed by their kindness, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail. Nothing was ever too much trouble. It was such a pleasure meeting Kevin and Ivy on our last day. One thing that really stood out to me is that this is the first company I’ve ever dealt with that didn’t pressure or push me to leave a review. That alone speaks volumes—they clearly do what they do because they genuinely love their job and care deeply about their clients’ experience. Exceptional Tour with Stella!

Stella was an excellent guide and made our trip truly enjoyable. She was punctual and was already waiting for us at our hotel at 10:00 a.m. She provided clear instructions before each stop and thoughtfully prepared raincoats for us. We first visited the main building and then began our hike up the mountain, where we enjoyed the breathtaking scenery and took many wonderful photos. We also had a great time riding the summer toboggan and racing the cars. Stella’s professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made the entire experience memorable. We highly recommend her and would gladly join another tour with her in the future.

Quality time in Shenzhen

We got recommended by a friend from Jakarta. When I contact the admin team, they give fast responses. And today we had a quality time trying new experiences that unthinkable. Our guide Madeleine who has good english, always help us translating , give us good recommendations of restaurants (thanks to her , we had delicious free desserts) she always try to help and explaining our curiosities. Our chauffeurs also very nimble that makes our trip run smooth. The itinerary is very unique and memorable.

Fantastic Goulong Gorge Experience with Tony Walker

Our family had an absolutely wonderful day trip to Goulong Gorge during our visit to Guangzhou, and a big part of that was thanks to Travel to Qin and our outstanding guide, Tony Walker. Wonderful trip

Everything went smoothly and we were well arranged .We satisfied with this trip. Gulong Amusement Park

Name’s Cheikh and my family and I went for one the best days ever with our guide Yan who’s very kind and lovely by the way we enjoyed every bit of it. The price matches all the stuff you have to do stayed for 3-4h but it was something else. There was a lot of people aswell from the beginning so it was quite fun and diversified if you have a family and want to enjoy this the right place and people to go too and I highly recommend Yan cuz she’s very nice and lovely most importantly she’ll help you out with everything like translating I’ll say she’s one of if not the best at speaking English here lol. Quite the opposite of what we all thought definitely recommend .

Best trip with nice guide Anita

The local guide Anita accompanied us throughout the trip and looked after us carefully and friendly. She took photos for us at every iconic scenic spot,gave us a through introduction about the scenery ,reminded us the key attention step by step all the way . My son who is under 1.4 meters, he couldn’t drive the mariot cart so she replaced me to handle him,so that I could enjoy the racing cars without anxiety . She also recommended some local delicious cuisines for us.We had a wonderful experience. Fish was so kind to even be my personal photographer and videographer :) They were so kitti make my birthday also special which was totally not in the plan and surprise to me! They were also on time every day to start the day from picking me up to dropping me off at the station. The unexpected rainy conditions and public holiday perhaps needed a little more guidance for me to prepare in advance. Overall, I'd recommend this team. 11 days China Holiday July 2026

Right from the planning phase to the execution, Kevin and his company Travel To Quin had been exceptional. We contacted them in Feb for our holiday in July and they meticulously understood our needs and then designed the itinerary accordingly. At China we were greated with a large bouquet of flowers by an english speaking travel guide and a car with driver was available for us everyday. The four star hotels booked were good. The Hilton in Guangzhou was the best. Ivy was nearly available 24/7 during our China stay solving our problems, giving advice, arranging and rearranging bookings etc. The tour guides for our trip were excellent, especially Keena at Shanghai stood out due to her exceptional kindness. During the whole 11 days of our holiday, the company accomodated all our needs and was transparent in their price policies. The company never made us feel that we were in an unknown country, especially Ivy was like an invisible guardian angle for our group, available 24/7 with problem solutions and options. We were a group of 7 consisting of 2 separate families, hence we have different needs, but the company was excellent in catering to the individual requirements of 7 guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our 11 days holiday, where we visiting Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Schenzen.
